Alexander López Guerra, born in Lima, Peru in 1995, is a resident dancer at theTanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch in Germany.

​

Alexander’s first contact with dance was through Hip Hop, followed by systematic ballet and contemporary dance training at the “Escuela de Ballet San Marcos” in Lima, Peru. After graduating, he danced with the “Ballet San Marcos” under the guidance of Vera Stastny and collaborated with the renowned Cuban choreographer Pepe Hevia, showcasing his extraordinary dance talent.

His interest in choreography led him to Barcelona, Spain, to further his studies at the “Conservatori Superior de Dansa” at the “Institut del Teatre”. A year later, he joined the young company “IT Dansa” under the direction of Catherine Allard, further enhancing his skills and stage presence.

Throughout his career, Alexander has had the privilege of performing works by world- renowned choreographers such as Pina Bausch, Richard Siegal, Boris Charmatz, Crystal Pite, Akram Khan, Alexander Ekman, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. These experiences have enriched his artistic repertoire and established him as a dancer with a global perspective.

Since the 2020/2021 season, Alexander has been a core member of the “Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch”, further solidifying his position in the international dance scene. His unique dance style and profound stage presence have garnered widespread acclaim from audiences and industry professionals alike.

In addition to his outstanding achievements as a dancer, Alexander actively pursues other artistic passions, particularly photography and choreography. His photography is creative, capturing dynamic moments on stage, and his potential as a choreographer is continually emerging.
